The Ultimate Interior Detailing Checklist for Desert Driving
Desert driving forces fine dust into every seam. Cleaning in the wrong order simply redistributes it. Work top to bottom, dry to wet, and finish with protection.
Step 1 — Full removal and dry extraction
Remove mats and loose items, then vacuum with a crevice tool from the headliner down: pillars, vents, seat rails, under seats, boot. Compressed air blows sand out of stitching and switchgear before vacuuming again.
Step 2 — Steam and agitate
Steam sanitises without soaking. Combined with soft-brush agitation it lifts embedded grime from vents, cupholders, seatbelt webbing and door pockets, killing odour-causing bacteria in humid cabins.
Step 3 — Fabric and leather care
Hot-water extraction on fabric seats and carpets pulls dissolved dirt out rather than pushing it deeper. Leather gets a pH-balanced cleaner and a UV-resistant conditioner — critical when dashboards regularly exceed 70°C.
Step 4 — Glass, plastics and protection
Interior glass last, with a dedicated low-lint towel, so no product overspray remains. Finish with a matte (never glossy) UV dressing on plastics and a fabric guard on carpets to repel the next round of dust.
Step 5 — Cabin air
Replace or clean the cabin filter and treat the AC evaporator. In Qatar's humidity this is the single most effective step for eliminating musty smells.
